Batik as part of the arts and crafts have become the life in Indonesia, especially Java. This
is not apart of the tradition of Javanese people, especially women who
used batik work is considered to be the exclusive source of livelihood

Unlike the coastal batik, traditional batik typically has a
lot of meaning in every detail , found in Solo and Jogjakarta. Traditional batik patterns contain special meaning in each of it. Before
foreign traders such as China, India, and Europe affect traditional
batik, batik is usually dominated by a dark brown color but then traditional batik have evolved with the
advent of color, more varied color such as blue, red also in terms of
style with the advent of tulip flower pattern which derived from Dutch.Although undergone many changes due to foreign influence,
traditional batik still remains a heritage that valued and respected, as
evidenced by the use of traditional batik every ceremonial Javanese
society.
Does only Java who has Batik? The answer is of course not. Sumatra and Kalimantan also have Batik. Although
not too well known as Javanese batik. The batik frpm this region, Sumatran has special
features such as Minang and 1 famous sumatra Batik called Batik Liek or clay Batik due to the making procerss which use clay.

In Kalimantan, batik sasirangan originating from South Kalimantan is one example of several kinds of batik Kalimantan. Sasirangan name is taken from one of the indigenous tribes in the Banjar Banjarmasin. Sasiranga pattern is quite popular among other pattern such as Pudak Iris,Sari Gading, Naga Balimbur, and Daun Jeruju. The process of sasirangan batik is quite different from java batik. For example in the first step sasirangan batik - all it does is sweing the fabric, then the fabric is cut sufficiently adapted to the
purposes of ladies or men's clothing. Then the fabric is drawn with traditional textile pattern, then disirang or sewn by hand follow the pattern . Cloth that has been sewn, then being stitched in order to tighten the seams at the edge, so tightly puckered fabric. This could puncture technique called stich. Then the fabric ready to be colored, and after going through some process

Then we crossed to the east Indonesian Papua. But here is not a batik cloth you will encounter but Papua weaving and batik patterned. Papua weaving pattern in this much about such motif symbolizes the life of humans, birds of paradise, plants and other animals.
