Bledak Tolet Hand writing Sarong


This is one of types modern batik which has colorful pattern. The method of this kind of batik is quite similar with traditional batik.

1. The fabric is being designed with pattern / molani

2. Then next step is ngengrengi. Ngengrengi is the first step, where the pattern ( which desired  for other color ) covered by the wax / candle ( 1 side of the sarong )

3. After one side is done then nerusi is the step where the pattern in the other side covered by wax / candle

4. After both side pattern  ( being covered by the wax / candle ) then  bledak technique will applied. Bledak is a batik's technique to cover the background  some of the pattern of the sarong with wax / candle.

5. Then come tolet. Tolet is the step where sarong  pattern being colored. The patterns which is not covered by wax / candle colored with synthetic dyes. This tolet method only applied in one side of the sarong

6. Then next step, nglorod is technique to removed the wax / candle using boiling water.
 The background and the patterns which covered by wax / candle will have white color. But If you wish those white color have other color then the next step will continue to give wax / candle to the pattern which has been colored ( it is to protect the color from first step )  and then nest step is tolet with desired color and then back to step removing the wax/candle. This is done repeatedly until you get the required colors.

7. Last step is nganji or giving starch to make the sarong stift
